User privacy issues presented in Chapter 3 involved specific HTTP headers that are sent between the web server and browser in both HTTP requests and replies. The Filter API provides the RequestFilter and ReplyFilter interfaces to accomplish the task of filtering HTTP headers. Depending on the type of header, a filter that needs to address the privacy issues will implement one or possibly both of these interfaces.
